Everyone is excited about the opportunity for full-membership voting in GDUI, and we’re testing it in a big way in 2008 by electing a whole new slate of officers and four board positions.
What will you need to vote? First you will need your GDUI Membership Identification Number. This is a 5-digit number available from Jane Sheehan in the GDUI National Office. Everyone was mailed out this information in a letter in January, but we understand that you may not have had a chance to have it read yet, so please do give Jane a call at 1-866-799-8436, Option 1, to get your number. Once jane gives you your number, write it down. It will be your GDUI Membership number and will be used any time we cast a full-member vote.
OK, it’s time to vote! Well, not quite yet. Actual voting runs from Sunday, May 4 through Sunday, May 11. We have a separate number for voting, which you may also want to write down and keep along with your membership number.
When you call, you will be asked to input your 5-digit member identification number and then to speak your name. These two methods of identification prevent voter fraud. Don’t worry. GdUI uses an independent source to talley the results so your vote is confidential.
There’s a chiming sound that happens after each event or question. For example the “If by Phone” system may ask you to say your name. Wait for the chimes, then speak or enter data using the telephone keypad.

The good news is that if you forget and say your name or enter data before the chimes, you will get a chance to fix it. The “if by Phone” system will ask you to verify your vote by saying “yes” or “no” or pressing a specified key on your telephone keypad.
