Guide dog Users, Inc. does not rate or recommend any particular guide dog school. The choice to train with a guide dog is a serious and highly personal one and deserves individual consideration. We encourage anyone interested in training with a guide dog to research each of the programs listed below.
In an effort to assist people in reviewing all of the information about the many aspects of training with a guide dog, GDUI has compiled a survey. Those schools who participated have answered questions on a variety of topics. Visit the GDUI Guide Dog School Survey pages for more information.
More information about training with a guide dog can also be found in "Making Impressions: A Guide for the Prospective Guide Dog Handler." This GDUI publication contains self assessment questions, an overview of training and tips on advocacy. The publication is available in the GDUI catalog.
